CFDR Fun Run/Walk 2018

The 14th Annual Fun Run/Walk will be held during the Dietitians of Canada National Conference, on Friday, June 8 at 5:30 in Vancouver’s beloved Stanley Park. Enjoy this magnificent green oasis with your friends and colleagues in our 5 km run or walk, or a 10 km run.

Last year’s participants in St. John’s raised a record-breaking $18,000 in pledges to support dietetic practice research, and net proceeds were $30,000.

Let’s gather again to have fun and demonstrate what great supporters you are of dietetic research in Canada. Collect a minimum of $40 in pledges to participate and receive a goodie bag and T-shirt.

Proceeds from the Fun Run/Walk support CFDR's mandate to fund research, which will ultimately enhance the health of Canadians. Without CFDR fundraisers, like the Fun Run/Walk, we would not be able to support important research, such as the 2017 Research Grants funded last year.

Recap of the 13th Annual Fun Run/Walk

The Fun Run/Walk through the beautiful trails in St. John’s broke the record for the highest proceeds raised at any CFDR Fun Run.  Participants proudly exceeded the pledge goal of $10,000, and raised over $18,000 in pledges! Sponsors also contributed $14,500 and after expenses the net proceeds were nearly $30,000, beating the previous record of $25,000.

Congratulations to Timothy Lau, winner of the 10K, Dean Simon winner of the 5K Run and Gerry Kasten, the top fundraiser, with over $2,700 in pledges. Thanks to the many other participants who also raised noteworthy pledges.

A warm thank you to the Newfoundland Committee members Rebecca Whalen (Lead Volunteer), Ana Maria Gascoyne and Angie Knee, as well as the many volunteers who helped out on the day of the event.

It was a fun and proud day for everyone involved! Here’s a sampling of pictures from the Run
