The Canadian Foundation for Dietetic Research (CFDR) fills a very specific and very necessary niche in the healthcare research arena. By providing grants to support research by dietitians in the context of their practice, CFDR is in a unique position to help improve the nutritional health of all Canadians. The evidence resulting from this research allows health professionals to provide science-based guidance and intervention in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease and pursuit of optimal health.
In short, we are on the front lines of driving new knowledge that supports dietitians in all forms of practice: in public health promoting disease prevention, in private practice advising clients, in clinical settings supporting patients requiring good nutrition, and in industry supporting the development of quality food products for consumers, to name a few.
Over the past 24 years, we have invested $1.75 Million in research undertaken by Canadian dietitians with 128 projects completed or underway. Our grantees have included exceptional student researchers, registered dietitians who had never before been researchers and seasoned dietitian researchers who have shared their experience with dietitian teams.
Your support will enable CFDR to continue funding quality research each year—research that dietitians can use to inform their work to the benefit of Canadians of all walks of life. Thank you for your support.
